Ferry to Juneau

We got to take a ride on the Alaska Marine Highway as a family this week! Über fun!
The ferries that run up and down Alaska's Inside passage with routes from Skagway, Alaska all the way down to Bellingham, Washington are often referred to as The Common Man's Cruise Ship.  What a treat!  We took the Fairweather which is a fast ferry. It does not have any cabins (private rooms) and only makes short day trips.  We traveled from Sitka to Juneau in 4 or 5 hours.

This is a super adorable photo of Ruby inside the ferry despite the fact that she was posing for Cliff on the floor!  This is an inlaid wood compass rose design that is lovely and perfectly placed under sky lights in the main area of the boat.  I am standing on the compass rose in a picture a little ways down in the post.
This photo was taken shortly after we set sail with Sitka behind us.
We spent most of our time following the twins around the inside of the boat as they explored all the different areas and enjoyed watching out the windows.  As they started to get tired, we switched to carrying them more.
We made a couple attempts to get them down for naps on the ferry and Cliff actually got Ruby to sleep for about a half an hour before Quinn decided he should wake her up!  We were not even out of the ferry terminal parking lot before Quinn crashed in his car seat.  Ruby was quick to follow.  We look forward to our next adventure on the Alaska Marine Highway!

So fun and I love that I know the experience! Ruby laying on the floor is mild compared to David leaning down and LICKING the ground in Mexico City! :)

I am really, really loving your hair long!! Kelly
