We took advantage of the Black Friday sales today and got some new yard art!
Our old faithful washer and dryer served us well for 11 years but we apparently ran them into the ground. We determined a few months ago that these would have to be the next appliances that we would replace (even though our fridge makes some pretty awesome sound effects and a retro oven is a dream of mine) but the end came sooner than we expected and this set has been relegated to temporary yard art. We really needed something new and decided to move forward with the purchase last weekend but at the last minute, decided to hold off for potential Black Friday sales and it paid off!
Thanks, Aaron and Emily, for helping us move out the old, move in the new and hold and feed babies this afternoon. I'm excited about my Christmas present from Cliff - the washer, and Cliff is also happy with his Christmas present from me - the dryer. We had to cut back on using our cloth diapers the past two weeks due to our washer not spinning out well and our clothes being sopping wet so we are looking forward to getting back to the cloth diapers and saving a little more in that regard as well.
Cupcake and Mr. Muffin thought the new appliances were pretty cool and Ruby Baby even stood and stared into the glass for over a minute while holding onto the handle.
I think we'll be glad to have the control lock to protect my laundry from the twenty little detective fingers that are toddling about the house of late.
The deals:
*$150 Whirlpool rebate for the dryer
* $275 Home Energy Appliance rebate from the City of Sitka
* For each appliance we bought, the store gave us a chance to pull a grocery gift card out of a bag!
The first gift card was worth $35 and the second was worth $25!
* Tax Free Holiday savings of $121.50
* $100 - Resale of our old dryer - PTL!
We decided to name the pair Desmond and Penny after some of our favorite characters from Lost, specifically in episode 1 of season 2 when they show the inside of the Hatch for the first time and amid all of the perfectly placed 60's furniture, music and decor, there was a state of the art brand new front loader washer and dryer that were oh so mysterious!

love the picture of ruby standing at the washer!
This is one of the cutest blogposts I have ever seen. Oh how we miss LOST. Surely you can figure out something to do with your vintage turquoise washer and dryer. They are just adorable. I would think the front loaders will provide endless hours of enjoyment for the twins.
You'll love the front loaders. I think they actually get the clothes cleaner! The twins are growing so. We're excited to see them soon.
Thanks for the new sweet desktop background. The babies look soooo cute with their new front end loader. I am so thankful you found those!!! The Lord has blessed you. Maybe someday you can have my cute, green retro range. I still like it and it gets the job done, so we'll hang onto it. ;)
Also, gotta looooove the Penny & Desmond names!!!!
I cannot get over Ruby standing at the washer! Oh me oh my do I just want to squeeze those two cuties of yours who are getting soo big! I feel like I'm missing it! Kelly
